FLY RC Magazine - Weekly Wing Tips: MICRO RUNWAYWing Tip Title:
MICRO RUNWAY
![]() MICRO RUNWAY Many times weather conditions prevent micro airplanes from
using their usual and dependable, outdoor, hard-surface landing
strips. I have solved the problem by using the hard
backed side of a length of carpet runner as an operational
landing strip on irregular surfaces such as
grass, rocky paths or baseball fields.
This method allows for many safe landings on
the temporary air strip and provides flexibility to
the limitations of outdoor flying, thus minimizing
“nose-over”-type damage of cowl and propeller when
landing on a questionable surface.
It takes some skill to get used this, but not as much as landing
on the Carrier at E-Fest.
