The classic technique to keep your modeling knife from rolling off your bench is to use the triangular "pen grips" available at most office supply stores. Unfortunately, that won't help you late at night when you have a sudden urge for safety. In that case, secure a zip-tie firmly on the handle. The locking block will stop it from rolling and you can slide it up and down the handle if it gets in the way of your grip.
