Each year at Top Gun, an overall winner is selected and given the title ‘Mr. Top Gun.’ To be eligible for this title, one must be in either the Expert or Master Class. This is because those classes consist of the modelers whose models are products solely of their own efforts, as outlined in the Top Gun rulebook. Some may be surprised to learn that the intent of Top Gun is not to find the best scale model, but rather to find the best scale modeler.

THE PLANES & THEIR STATIONS
The overall quality of Top Gun planes is quite obviously incredible. This is one of those rare opportunities to see a broad selection of the world’s best scale models in one place, flown by capable pilots on one of the best flying sites around. Until recently, Top Gun was held yearly at the Palm Beach Polo Club, which had superb spectator facilities yet was becoming a little too tight for the ever-expanding flight envelopes of modern day scale models. Add to this the growth of the surrounding community and it was easy to see that Top Gun needed to move if it was to keep pace with the needs of modelers and spectators alike.
