In the November 2006 issue of Fly RC and Radio Control Heli Pilot #3 we featured a homemade pitch gauge designed by Thayer Syme. As you can see, it is a simple affair that can be built quickly and inexpensively with basic hand tools. Unlike conventional pitch gauges, you will need to ensure that the flybar remains motionless and is level when in use. The benefit of this gauge is that it dynamically tracks settings as you cycle through the pitch range.
